Gustav Schroeder The Captain of the German Ocean Liner St Louis who took in 1939 , 915 Jewish Emigrants from Hamburg to Cuba. Each of them holding a valid visa. On arrival in Cuba they were denied entry. He went to the USA and again they were denied as the were in Britain. Finally they disembarked in Belgium. Most of them Perished in the German Concentration Camps. Gustav Schroeder made it back to Hamburg taking his vessel via Russia avoiding the British Navy. He got a desk job and ever went to sea again.
